Position Overview

This role is a full-time opportunity with 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, featuring flexible start times between 6 AM and 9 AM. There are no weekend or holiday shifts, and on-call duties are not required. Previous experience in an operating room setting is preferred, and completion of a Surgical Technologist Program is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in assisting surgeons during procedures, ensuring optimal care for patients across all age groups throughout surgical interventions.

  • Facilitates the coordination of treatment plans with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provides essential patient support as needed.
  • Connects patients to necessary clinical equipment.
  • Employs aseptic techniques in preparation for surgical procedures, including scrubbing, donning surgical attire, gloving, draping, and organizing the instrument table.
  • Actively engages in surgical timeouts to ensure patient safety.
  • Collaborates with the circulating Registered Nurse and surgeon to confirm the correct surgical site prior to operations.
  • Maintains precise inventory of surgical supplies, including sponges, needles, and instruments, in accordance with established policies.
  • Prepares, identifies, and verifies all specimens collected during surgical procedures.
  • Ensures the operating room is ready with all necessary instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each surgical case.
  • Safely disposes of linens, needles, and sharps in designated containers.
  • Evaluates wounds and applies or changes sterile dressings as directed by the Registered Nurse and Surgeon.
  • Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during the intra-operative phase.
  • Cleans and organizes the operating room between procedures, ensuring efficient end-of-case cleanup.
  • Reports any reactions, procedural outcomes, and changes in the patient's condition to the Registered Nurse.
  • Documents relevant medical information and initiates emergency protocols when necessary.
  • Restocks operating rooms, monitors inventory levels, and prepares case supplies for subsequent days.
  • Assists in training new staff members in primary responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based in a clinical setting. The Surgical Technologist is accountable for fulfilling all job-specific responsibilities and adhering to organizational policies and procedures. Qualifications

Education: Completion of a Specialty Training Program is required.

Experience: A minimum of one year of related work experience is preferred.
