Perioperative Care Specialist

The Tampa General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Perioperative Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our surgical team, you will assist physicians in surgery and perform specific significant surgical tasks under professional supervision.

Responsibilities:
  • Obtain at least 100 continuing education credits, 30 of which must be in the advanced category within a 6 year time-frame
  • Provide age appropriate care, as evidenced by completion of age specific competency checklist
  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills by completion of applicable core and annual skills checklists and tests
  • Demonstrate competency in critical thinking skill as evidenced by performance in critical/emergency situations and application of Standards and Recommended Practices of Perioperative Nursing related to technical skill level

Requirements:

  • Florida RN license
  • Completion of RNFA technology program; Completion of an assisting course
  • One year experience as RNFA or current staff member obtaining RNFA
  • Training obtained under preceptorship from surgeons; Documentation of a minimum of 150 surgical cases within the defined specialty area
  • BLS, ACLS certifications required. Current credentialing as a certified first assistant

The Tampa General Hospital is a 244-bed Health System Joint Commission, Accredited Chest Pain Center, and Primary Stroke Center. Our care services include a surgery program, a dedicated orthopedic joint replacement center, and two cardiac catheterization labs. We offer a range of care services, including general surgery, ENT, plastic surgery, urology, and therapy rehab centers.
