We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our PEDs Float Pool team on a full-time basis during night shifts. As a Critical Care (CC) Registered Nurse - Float Pool, you will provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patients, families, nurses, and healthcare delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships.
- Formulate individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
- Support and empower patient/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions.
- Advocate for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues.
- Anticipate ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients and intervene to maximize patient outcomes and coordinate healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
- Document all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assist healthcare team members with documentation.
- Evaluate the outcomes of documentation and contribute to related performance improvement initiatives.
- Assist staff with assessing patients' learning needs and outcomes measurement of patient education.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and lead other disciplines to meet desired outcomes.
- Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others, have respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines, and use an integrated approach toward achieving desired patient outcomes.
- Keep informed of unit initiatives and incorporate the outcomes of team or committee work into practice.
- Act as a clinical resource and serve as a mentor to healthcare team members.
- Identify own learning needs and develop professional goals, seek opportunities to obtain education to enhance practice, collaborate in the development and implementation of educational plans for identified needs, and review self-development plan and professional goals.
- Demonstrate evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintain own Team Member Continuing Education Record.
- 2 years PEDs RN critical care experience required.
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS required from (AHA) American Heart Association.
- RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN.
- Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills.
