Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team as a Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation) in the Regional Construction Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise consultant and/or State forces to ensure compliance with contract requirements, Federal, State and Local Laws, Rules and Regulations.
  • Manage construction activities to assure the contractor meets high standards of quality and workmanship and overall safety on the project.
  • Travel and field work are required for this position.
  • May serve a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
Requirements
  • Must have a New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration.
  • Must have a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, or one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience.
  • Must be able to travel and work in the field.
What We Offer

As a Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation) with the State Department of Transportation, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and contribute to the development of the state's infrastructure.

This is a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required, but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At a future date, employees hired under this program will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination.
