Job Summary

As a Bus Aide with Oswego County Opportunities, Inc., you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children on our bus routes. This position requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional care and support to our students, while also assisting the teaching team with classroom activities and routines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise children on the bus and in the classroom at all times, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Assist the driver with bus drills and safety procedures, ensuring the children's safety and well-being.
  • Help children board and exit the bus safely, including COVID-19 screening.
  • Secure children in child restraint systems and educate parents on proper use.
  • Attend to the safety and well-being of children on the vehicle, responding to emergencies as needed.
  • Assist with classroom activities and routines as assigned, adapting to changes in classroom routines and procedures.
  • Participate in required professional development trainings and meetings, maintaining certification in MAT, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Complete documentation in areas of compliance, including attendance, incident reports, and child observation disclosure forms.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 months of directly related paid or volunteer experience required.
  • Ability to work well with children, parents, and staff members, exhibiting good judgment and professionalism.
  • Must be able to work with others in a warm, non-judgmental manner, and be a positive role model to children and parents.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Acceptable physical and mental health to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
  • Must be vaccinated for COVID-19 per Head Start mandate or qualify for an exemption waiver.
Work Schedule

16 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, Monday through Thursday, 10:00am - 2:00pm.
