Job Title: Optical Advisor

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring all patients receive the highest quality optometric care.
  • Integrate the Brand Story and execute the patient experience/behaviors flawlessly.
  • Work closely with the doctor and retail functions to ensure seamless communication and execution.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Greet customers promptly and provide a friendly and courteous experience.
  • Explain all required paperwork, tests, products, and services to patients.
  • Review prescriptions and patient information carefully, identifying special needs and consulting with Optician, Managing Doctor, or Retail Management when necessary.
  • Show patience and courtesy to indecisive or difficult customers and patients.
  • Perform work accurately and thoroughly despite time pressure and customer volume.
  • Identify situations involving unsatisfied customers and act quickly for resolution.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of appointment book/scheduling procedures and computer operation/procedures.
  • Handle and file all patient records in an organized and efficient manner in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Place contact lens orders, process shipments, and properly submit invoices for payment.
  • Operate the POS system terminal, inputting customer/patient and prescription information with accuracy and attention to details.
  • Accurately operate the POS system, collecting proper payment following company security procedures and retaining proper change for various transactions.
  • Explain One Hour processing and expected delivery times to customers.
  • Take pride in the appearance of the store and ensure visual displays are in accordance with Company provided guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all associates/patients.
  • Quickly respond to changes in store promotions with appropriate staff communications, graphics, and point of purchase materials.
Retail:
  • Demonstrate good product knowledge, taking initiative to accurately describe the features and benefits of various lenses and frames.
  • Assist customers in selecting frames and lenses that are best suited for their vision, lifestyle, and budgetary needs.
Doctor's Office:
  • Perform all pre-examination testing with accuracy and attention to detail, explaining all measurements and answering any questions the patient may have.
  • Utilize clinical and product knowledge to provide coaching and guidance to patients on the care and handling of contact lenses.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and disinfection of contact lens inventory, providing clinical support to the Optometrist as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Strong customer service skills (internal and external).
  • Knowledge of current fashion trends.
  • Strong communicator and listener.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • Familiarity with cash register, computers, and calculators.
  • Organization skills.
  • Sales skills.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of office and store merchandise.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, and/or optical.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
