Position Overview:
The Clinical Laboratory Specialist is responsible for conducting laboratory analyses that support the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. This role involves the collection, processing, and evaluation of specimens as ordered by healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Employs independent judgment to perform both standard and advanced laboratory tests utilizing diverse methodologies, instruments, and equipment to assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing and managing patient care.
  • Utilizes professional judgment to efficiently prioritize and assess various test requests.
  • Adheres to established protocols for the collection and processing of biological samples.
  • Conducts analytical testing procedures with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
  • Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of testing principles and analytical methods, enabling effective interpretation of results in relation to disease and physiological conditions.
  • Implements and oversees quality control measures, as well as the introduction of new equipment and methodologies.
  • Maintains an organized and efficient work environment.
  • Contributes to the educational initiatives within the department.
  • Demonstrates the necessary knowledge and skills to address the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients across all age groups.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
  • Previous experience in a clinical laboratory environment, particularly across multiple laboratory disciplines, is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels is essential.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) or equivalent software is required.

Education and Experience:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related scientific field, with successful completion of an internship in Medical Technology or equivalent laboratory experience as recognized by relevant regulatory standards.

Certification:

Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) at the Technologist level is mandatory. Certification must be obtained within a specified timeframe from the commencement of the role.


Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred.

Supervisory Experience:
No supervisory experience is required for this position.
