Key Responsibilities:
- Employs independent judgment to perform both standard and advanced laboratory tests utilizing diverse methodologies, instruments, and equipment to assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing and managing patient care.
- Utilizes professional judgment to efficiently prioritize and assess various test requests.
- Adheres to established protocols for the collection and processing of biological samples.
- Conducts analytical testing procedures with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
- Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of testing principles and analytical methods, enabling effective interpretation of results in relation to disease and physiological conditions.
- Implements and oversees quality control measures, as well as the introduction of new equipment and methodologies.
- Maintains an organized and efficient work environment.
- Contributes to the educational initiatives within the department.
- Demonstrates the necessary knowledge and skills to address the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients across all age groups.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory environment, particularly across multiple laboratory disciplines, is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels is essential.
- Experience in the healthcare sector is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) or equivalent software is required.
Education and Experience:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related scientific field, with successful completion of an internship in Medical Technology or equivalent laboratory experience as recognized by relevant regulatory standards.
Certification:
Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) at the Technologist level is mandatory. Certification must be obtained within a specified timeframe from the commencement of the role.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred.
Supervisory Experience:
No supervisory experience is required for this position.
