General Manager Job Description

As a SONIC Drive-In restaurant General Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of employees to deliver exceptional customer service and drive sales growth. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all aspects of food service meet operational standards, while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment for customers and employees alike.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage, train, and coach Crew/Team members, Carhops, and Skating Carhops to ensure they meet operational standards.
  • Direct and assign drive-in restaurant employees as needed to ensure all aspects of food service meet operational standards.
  • Adhere to and monitor employee compliance with the drive-in employee handbook, policies, and practices.
  • Perform restaurant opening and/or closing duties, including preparing employee work schedules and monitoring and making adjustments to restaurant staffing levels.
  • Monitor and maintain restaurant inventory levels, placing orders for food, paper, and other supplies within cost control procedures.
  • Complete and maintain all drive-in restaurant employment-related records and payroll records.
  • Reinforce a customer service mentality and ensure all employees are focused on serving the customer at all times.
  • Immediately and respectfully resolve guest requests, reporting guest complaints to immediate supervisor and assisting in resolving such complaints.
  • Interview and hire restaurant crew and management team members to achieve proper staffing levels.
  • Prepare all necessary operational reports and develop appropriate action plans to resolve unfavorable financial and/or sales trends.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan to drive sales growth and increase customer engagement.
