MedStar Health is seeking a highly skilled Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Exercise Physiologist to join our team at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, directing, and supervising participants in the Cardiopulmonary Rehab Program. This role requires a strong understanding of exercise physiology and the ability to develop and implement individualized plans of care.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate medical history and current physical status of participants to assess their baseline functional capacity and personal health factors.
- Perform new patient orientations, assist with navigation of resources, and develop plans of care for participants.
- Implement plans of care utilizing principles of exercise physiology, instruct participants in proper techniques and use of equipment, and monitor exercise sessions to assess participants for inappropriate responses to exercise.
- Independently adjust participant treatment plans to properly progress participants and safely obtain established program and participant goals.
- Identify potential problems and notify medical doctors before critical problems appear, respond to emergencies, and document progress reports and discharge summaries appropriately.
- Provide teaching and instruction to patients, family members, and staff, and develop and provide in-services to hospital staff and community related to cardiac and pulmonary disease and prevention.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to establish plans of care and continuum of care, and develop new ideas and suggestions for program improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 3-4 years clinical exercise physiology experience preferred.
- ACSM Exercise Specialist or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) preferred.
This position has a hiring range of $36.41.
