We are seeking a skilled Health Services Professional to join our team at the Kentucky School for the Blind.
About Us:The Kentucky School for the Blind is a premier educational institution dedicated to empowering students who are blind and visually impaired to command their future. With nearly 180 years of service, we provide comprehensive educational services to all Kentucky students who are blind and visually impaired, from birth to 21.
Our mission is to help all Kentucky students who are blind and visually impaired develop their talents, skills, and attitudes to become confident, competent, and independent adults.
Job Summary:This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will provide professional nursing services to patients at the Kentucky School for the Blind. As an Interim Registered Nurse, you will collaborate with parents and staff to ensure the health needs of students are met.
- You will administer initial medical treatment of health issues of all children on campus, including administering prescribed medications and promoting health maintenance.
- You will utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in the provision of patient care, intervening when emergency care is required.
- You will collaborate with contracted doctors and mental health professionals to provide communication for all student needs.
- You will transport or delegate transportation of students to the emergency room if necessary.
- You will send appropriate documentation.
- You will maintain inventory and order necessary supplies/medications as needed.
- You will keep work areas sanitized.
- You will participate in and/or provide training as it applies to the position, the school, and the department.
- You will work within a team approach to ensure a safe campus environment.
- You will perform other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
You must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
Working conditions include working in a hospital or institutional setting and may be exposed to hazards common in hospitals or institutional settings which requires following safety procedures.
Salary and Benefits:The salary for this position is $28.92 hourly, with shift differential pay provided for second and third shift hours.
The Kentucky Department of Education participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
