Police Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Police Officer to join our team at the City of Tualatin, OR. As a lateral police officer, you will be responsible for conducting investigations, responding to citizen requests for service, and enforcing traffic and criminal laws.

• Conduct thorough investigations of reported criminal activity, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses and suspects.
• Respond to citizen requests for service, providing assistance and support as needed.
• Enforce traffic and criminal laws, operating radar and checking property security.
• Investigate traffic accidents, determining circumstances and taking statements.
• Control traffic flow and direction, ensuring public safety.
• Prepare comprehensive reports on activities, maintaining accurate records.
• Respond to calls for assistance, performing public service functions.
• Serve warrants and subpoenas, as needed.

• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Status as a U.S. citizen, or become a U.S. citizen within 18 months of employment.
• Current State Certification as a Police Officer.
• Strong preference for lateral officers with three years or more of experience, within the last five years, employed as a police officer.
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system and federal, state, and local laws.
• Considerable knowledge of police investigative procedures and techniques.
• Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

• Three years or more of experience as a police officer, within the last five years.
• Knowledge of the geography and people of the city.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
• Ability to operate assigned vehicles and equipment skillfully and safely.
