Job OverviewKelemen 10 is a medical-surgical unit that caters to patients with diverse needs and conditions. Both North and South 10 have telemetry capabilities for our patients. Each side houses 36 patients, with a maximum capacity of 72 patients.
South 10 features a 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit embedded within the 36-bed unit. INCU has critically care-trained RNs who provide support and care for ventilated patients.
South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room for specific isolation needs.
We conduct multidisciplinary rounds Monday – Friday, involving the patient in their care and facilitating collaboration among team members to provide the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities.
We have a pharmacist on the unit to assist RNs when needed, helping to avoid delays in patient care.
Job ResponsibilitiesThe Graduate Nurse (GN) is a professional caregiver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The GN supervises and provides care to these patients using the nursing process, including the therapeutic use of self.
The GN holds a temporary emergency RN license and is eligible to work under supervision in an acute care facility licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health.
Supervision may be in the form of a preceptor relationship.
Additional Responsibilities:- Follow established policies and procedures.
- Communicate openly with internal customers and supervisors.
- Provide excellent customer service, interfacing well with all levels of staff, management, and physicians.
- Apply Cooper core values.
- Other duties as required.
- Procedures not signed off by the RN preceptor or Clinical Educator that require competency.
- Direct or supervise other healthcare staff.
- Make assignments for other staff.
The Graduate Nurse will have successfully completed their nursing school. Previous inpatient experience as a Nurse Associate/Patient Care Technician is preferred.
Education Requirements:
- Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing.
License/Certification Requirements:
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers).
Special Requirements:
- Basic Life Support, 7a-7p with rotation.
