Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality and Patient Safety Nurse Consultant to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for promoting a culture of safety, high reliability, and performance excellence in client organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory and licensure requirements, both state and federal, as well as industry best practices such as the Joint Commission and others.
  • Client Engagement: Conducts on-site visits at client organizations to evaluate standards of care, provide feedback to staff, and document findings.
  • Quality Improvement: Assesses documentation required by regulation or accreditation, audits nursing documentation, and reviews incident reports to identify areas for improvement.
  • Communication: Provides written and electronic documentation of client quality assessments, communicates issues to leadership, and escalates immediate threat patient safety concerns.
  • Professional Development: Serves as a professional role model and resource, reviews relevant nursing and hospital policies, and participates in huddles and meetings as assigned.
Requirements
  • Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
  • At least 5 years of full-time, or equivalent part-time experience as an RN in a recognized hospital or psychiatric facility.
  • Supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity preferred, as well as a graduate degree with a major in Nursing.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements, with significant participation in these types of surveys.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and set priorities and manage multiple demands effectively.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel within Massachusetts.
