We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting our Registered Pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medication.
Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medication, including filling, packaging, and labeling of unit dose carts.
- Fill bottles or other package forms with measured amounts of medication, either manually or mechanically.
- Label containers of drugs according to department specifications, either manually or mechanically.
- Assist in the clean air room, using sterile technique in filling and labeling injectable prescriptions, where required.
- Assist in the preparation and/or labeling of IV additives.
- Fills medication orders in inpatient areas.
- Packages sudden, unexpected medication requests, as required.
- Assist in maintaining a variety of records and reports, including IV records and medication inventory.
- Enter orders into computer terminals for refill purposes.
- Maintain sufficient inventory at workstations in the Pharmacy.
- Transport required pharmacy materials, as necessary.
- Receive and maintain records of stock and inventory control.
- Assist in material control by maintaining records and inventories.
- Maintain placement of sufficient daily inventory of supplies to all areas of the Pharmacy to assure efficient operating conditions.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Current national certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)/National Healthcare Association (NHA), required.
- NYSED License, required.
- Minimum of two years experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Ability to learn computerized hospital pharmacy systems.
- Must be able to perform physically strenuous work.
