We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team at Rancho Bernardo Pediatrics. As an LVN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care, working under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider. Your primary responsibilities will include performing routine patient care, administering medications (excluding IV medications), and assisting with various medical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform vital signs, remove and/or apply dressings for assessment by licensed provider
- Clean or irrigate wounds after provider assessment and instructions
- Shave and skin preparation, ear washes, NG insertion & lavage, urinary catheter insertion & irrigation
- Reinforce standardized self-care procedures as directed by licensed provider
- Recognize and respond to acute emergency situations following established procedures
- Orient patients to system policies and practices
- Provide appropriate instruction sheets based upon provider direction
- Administer medications, excluding IV medications, as ordered by provider
- Observe and document patients' response to medications and therapy
- May perform tuberculin, coccidioidin, and histoplasmin skin tests, provides they are part of a tuberculosis control program
- May perform immunizations, provided they are based upon written protocols
- Complete necessary arrangements or organize treatment rooms prior to surgical and/or examination procedures
- Assist licensed provider with patient examinations and treatments
- Vocational Nurse License (California)
- Basic Life Support
- Ability to work effectively with the public
- Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique
- Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service
- Home location is Rancho Bernardo and may float to all Pediatric sites in the North
- Weekend and holiday shifts required
- Must meet on-call requirements
