Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at Garmin International Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing software systems that support new technology or improve the capability and performance of existing functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implement software systems using Java, Kotlin, or other selected languages
  • Lead complex software development projects and review architected modules and software systems
  • Decompose functional requirements into well-defined tasks and balance quality, quantity, and complexity in work output
  • Offer peer technical assessments in areas of expertise, new technologies, and software designs
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced Software Engineers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with designing well-architected software systems and modules
  • Demonstrated competence with researching fundamental problems and implementing appropriate algorithmic solutions

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with designing and developing microservices in a cloud environment
  • Strong background in RESTful API development
  • Strong experience with Relational Databases and NoSQL data stores
  • Broad knowledge with all steps in the software development lifecycle
  • Extensive knowledge of Spring Frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, WebFlux)
