Job Title: Dental Hygienist

We are seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team at Caldwell Pediatric Dentistry in Lenoir, NC.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will provide quality dental care and associated services to patients under the general supervision of a dentist using established dental hygiene procedures while assisting other staff in a variety of patient care and clinical duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide thorough and frequent schedule reviews to ensure patients are seen on-time as scheduled.
  • Welcoming patients into the treatment area and inviting them to participate in their care.
  • Assisting the dentist during various treatment procedures and creating treatment plans.
  • Reviewing treatment needed and answering questions prior to walking up patients.
  • Performing routine dental cleanings and assisting in more complicated surgical procedures.
  • Accurately reviewing charts the day before the patient arrives.
  • Maintaining adequate operatory supplies and compiling lists for inventory control and ordering purposes.
  • Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health.
  • Setting up hygiene or op rooms prior to patient arrival.
  • Taking and developing dental radiographs (if certified).
  • Assisting with extractions, sealants, fillings, and pulp therapy procedures.
  • Monitoring nitrous oxide (if certified).
  • Coronal polishing patients (if certified).
  • Applying fluoride.
  • Root planting.
  • Taking initiative with additional responsibilities assigned by the Office Coordinator.
  • Providing instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  • Reviewing oral hygiene instructions with patients/parents.
  • Assisting the doctor with operative treatment and hospital cases when scheduled in OP/OR.
  • Maintaining care of units (flushing lines, filling H2O bottles, placing tablets in H2O, changing traps).
  • Creating T bands, hygiene patient bags, and extraction bags.
  • Scaling when necessary.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • Successful completion of a dental hygienist licensing program as per state guidelines.
  • Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist along with scaling and root planting experience.
  • Additional certification or training is an asset.
  • Open Dental Experience.
