Senior Estimator for Heavy Civil Construction

• Compile and organize bid documentation, maintain drawing logs, and upload relevant construction plans and specifications.
• Identify discrepancies in documents and formulate effective bidding strategies.
• Generate precise estimates from takeoff to bid, utilizing 3D modeling with Agtek software and integrating soil reports for an accurate depiction of existing conditions.
• Engage potential subcontractors, prepare Requests for Quotes (RFQs), and develop thorough subcontractor bidder lists.
• Monitor and follow up with subcontractors to ensure timely and organized submission of all necessary documentation.
• Conduct site evaluations and participate in pre-bid meetings to gain a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
• Produce detailed quantity takeoffs.
• Assess and compare bids from subcontractors and vendors.
• Clarify bidding documents and prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) for architects or engineers, ensuring prompt communication with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate and prepare project bids and proposals for submission to the Owner/Developer.
• Negotiate and draft contracts with subcontractors and vendors, as well as material purchase orders based on bid qualifications.
• Understand bonding and specific insurance requirements for each project.
• Establish and maintain a database for prevailing wage rates or multiple prevailing wage databases.
• Manage a computerized construction cost database (Bid2Win) for use by estimating and construction management teams, ensuring it reflects current labor rates, fuel costs, equipment expenses, and subcontractor pricing.
• Gain familiarity with all relevant county and state highway specifications and details.
• Collaborate with the project manager to develop project schedules and procure materials, paying close attention to lead times and specifications.
• Prepare and monitor submittals for architects and/or engineers to confirm the correct materials and quantities are utilized in the project.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating and project management.
• 1 year of experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
