Job Overview: The financial accountant is essential in maintaining precise financial oversight within a construction organization. This role encompasses a variety of accounting responsibilities, including managing accounts receivable, supervising the accounts payable process, reconciling accounts, processing cash receipts, coordinating month-end and quarter-end closings, managing change orders, and generating financial reports. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, robust accounting expertise, and exceptional organizational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and manage all projects within the accounting system.
  • Input estimates, commitments, change order requests, and change orders into the accounting software.
  • Audit billing for accuracy prior to posting.
  • Process billing and submit to clients through various payment platforms.
  • Record and post billing transactions in the accounting system.
  • Allocate all cash receipts to the corresponding billings.
  • Generate documentation reconciling all issued billings and received cash receipts.
  • Create reconciliations for each active project.
  • Evaluate and distribute Aging Reports.
  • Keep management informed of customer communications and anticipated payments.
  • Coordinate month-end and quarter-end financial activities.
  • Monitor and report on job costs for all projects.
  • Reconcile change orders.
  • Collaborate with project teams to gather missing documentation for owner change orders.
  • Maintain an updated log of change order information for projects.
  • Assist with Work in Progress reports.
  • Conduct credit card reconciliations.
  • Support month-end closing processes related to accounts payable, including accruals and journal entries.
  • Assist in processing incoming invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper coding and approval.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable principles and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Reliable transportation.
Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
