JOB SUMMARY:
The role of the Plant Engineer is pivotal in guaranteeing the effective installation and upkeep of plant machinery and infrastructure, ensuring a safe, efficient, and economically viable operation. This position will be under the supervision of the Plant Manager and involves travel requirements of up to 25%. Please note that this role is not eligible for hybrid work arrangements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Plant Engineer will serve as both a Project and Process Engineer, providing support to the maintenance team and the Maintenance Manager.
As a Project Engineer:
• Aid in the formulation of capital budgets by proposing specific initiatives, preparing funding requests, and sourcing competitive pricing and bids.
• Oversee and finalize capital budget projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule and within budget constraints.
• Facilitate the installation of project-related equipment, conduct necessary training for operational and maintenance staff, and develop all required Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) protocols.
• Assess the equipment needs of the plant and make recommendations to the Plant Manager regarding potential purchases.
• Collaborate with Division Engineering on projects that necessitate engineering support.
• Conduct annual facility audits to evaluate the condition of buildings, grounds, and equipment, estimating costs, determining timelines, and prioritizing projects.
As a Process Engineer:
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical failures and devise effective solutions.
• Develop and implement strategies for upgrading process control technologies.
• Analyze production challenges related to plant equipment and suggest modifications to the Plant Manager.
• Design new machinery or adapt existing equipment to enhance operational efficiency.
• Evaluate new equipment for potential integration into manufacturing processes.
In collaboration with the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Department, the successful candidate will:
• Assist the plant purchasing agent and maintenance manager in procuring repair parts and services, adhering to quality, cost-effectiveness, and delivery timelines.
• Support the maintenance department in preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives.
• Act as a liaison for Plant Control Systems, including Fire Systems, Chillers, Air Compressors, etc.
• Mentor Electrical Apprentices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least two years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in PLC programming, AutoCAD, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems (power distribution, motor controls, etc.).
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills across all management levels, with demonstrated leadership and training capabilities.
* Willingness to travel domestically up to 25%.
* This position is not eligible for hybrid work.
* Must have the physical capability to access all areas of the plant.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
