Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled Distribution Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in the upgrades of a major energy provider's distribution grids.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement construction plans for project work, including scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Create work packages, bill materials, and manage scope of work and schedules.
  • Conduct field work, taking notes, pictures, and measurements to inform project design.
  • Design project construction plans using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools, and Work Management Systems (WMS).
  • Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, transformer sizing, voltage drop, and flicker, as well as coordination of protective devices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, or an Associate's degree with relevant work experience.
  • At least 1 year of prior relevant experience in design engineering with an electric utility or consulting company.
  • Strong construction background, design work, civil engineering, electrical experience, and programming experience may be considered in lieu of direct experience.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting and meet productivity metrics.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation Design software.
  • Interest in developing construction work packages for electric distribution systems using various software systems and construction standards.
