West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated 6th Grade Math and Science Teacher to join our team. As a member of our faculty, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students and contributing to the academic excellence of our school.
Job Summary:The 6th Grade Math and Science Teacher will be responsible for teaching mathematics and science to 6th grade students, developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, and assessing student progress. The ideal candidate will have a passion for environmental education and a commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of individual students
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment
- Stay current with best practices in mathematics and science education and incorporate new ideas and technologies into the classroom
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with curriculum changes
- Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate
- Additional endorsements in biology, science, or environmental science preferred
- Demonstrated competence as a teacher
- Computer literate and experience working with technology preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students
