Position Summary

As a Produce Department Supervisor, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our produce department. You'll be responsible for overseeing daily activities, maintaining high standards of quality and customer service, and leading a team of dedicated associates.

Essential Job Functions

  • Cultivate a positive and collaborative work environment by fostering teamwork among your colleagues.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting, assisting, and addressing the needs of our valued shoppers.
  • Effectively manage staffing levels to ensure optimal service delivery and efficient labor utilization.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with customers, responding to inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
  • Ensure adherence to established procedures for opening and closing the department, maintaining orderliness and efficiency.
  • Operate various equipment, including knives, pallet jacks, forklifts, flatbeds, box cutters, and pricing guns, in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Regularly patrol the sales floor to ensure a positive shopping experience for our customers.
  • Maintain a well-organized backroom area, adhering to established procedures and standards.
  • Provide comprehensive nightly reports to the on-duty manager, summarizing key activities and observations.
  • Oversee receiving procedures, ensuring accurate handling of incoming shipments and timely execution of price changes and in-store transfers.
  • Implement daily product culling practices, removing unsellable items from the sales floor and disposing of them appropriately.
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety protocols, ensuring proper storage, handling, and display of produce.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of retail experience, preferably in a grocery setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, ensuring efficient workflow and task completion.
