We are seeking a dedicated caregiver for the evening shift (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM) at Franklin Park Sonterra, a charming retirement community located in Stone Oak.
Role Summary:
The caregiver will assist residents with their daily living activities (ADLs) including dining, dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, and mobility support. The goal is to foster independence and engagement, allowing residents to participate in their preferred activities and community events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver compassionate care and support to residents, adhering to community policies and respecting resident rights.
- Assist residents in fulfilling their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs by engaging them in meaningful conversations and encouraging social interactions.
- Provide scheduled assistance with daily living tasks as per the care plan, ensuring safety and comfort during transfers and personal hygiene routines.
- Monitor and report any changes in residents' conditions to the supervising nurse.
- Respond promptly to resident requests, providing assistance as needed.
- Conduct regular checks on residents, documenting any special needs or changes in their condition.
- Encourage participation in communal dining and assist with meal service as required.
- Maintain cleanliness in dining areas and residents' living spaces as assigned.
- Handle laundry duties for residents’ linens and personal clothing in accordance with community standards.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste products following safety regulations.
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies and provide necessary support.
- Document care provided accurately throughout the shift.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with residents and their families, while respecting confidentiality.
- Address service oversights and refer unresolved issues to management.
- Follow proper procedures for timekeeping and uniform standards.
- Participate in required training and meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Understand emergency response protocols, including evacuation procedures.
- All staff members are responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A genuine passion for working with older adults.
- Understanding of how dementia and aging affect communication and physical abilities.
- Proficient in English; bilingual in Spanish is advantageous.
- Effective communication skills with all levels of staff, residents, and families.
- Reliable and able to fulfill job responsibilities consistently.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of on-the-job training is mandatory; C.N.A. certification is a plus.
- Preferred experience of one or more years in senior care or nursing environments.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and transferring residents.
- Exposure to various health and safety conditions is expected.
