Job Description

At Elite Healthcare Staffing, we are seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. This role is designed to provide a balance between work and personal life, allowing you to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain clerical organization within the unit, ensuring accurate and efficient workflow.
  2. Competently monitor the telemetry system, recording and interpreting cardiac rhythms according to policy and procedure.
  3. Notify the Registered Nurse of EKG abnormalities or changes, prioritizing patient care.
  4. Assign EKG transmitters and maintain an accurate count, ensuring seamless operations.
  5. Notify management personnel of missing equipment and assist with follow-up, promoting a culture of accountability.
  6. Demonstrate professional and courteous telephone and call-light etiquette, adhering to policy guidelines.
  7. Update the call light system with current information, including patient, staff nurse, and nursing assistant names.
  8. Refill patient charts with needed forms, such as Face sheets and Progress Notes.
  9. Assemble new charts, thin present charts, and disassemble old charts, maintaining a well-organized workspace.
  10. Monitor the printer, sort, and file all patient printouts within one hour of printing, ensuring timely documentation.
  11. Print the Summary of Care for all patients discharged home, prioritizing patient safety.
  12. Monitor the pneumatic tube system every hour and when necessary, distributing papers and materials to the appropriate place or person.
  13. Distribute papers and other materials to the appropriate place or person, promoting efficient communication.
  14. Send test faxes and verify correct send per policy before faxing documents, ensuring accuracy.
  15. Maintain an adequate amount of unit supplies, anticipating needs and preventing shortages.
  16. Enter patient acuities in the computer, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  17. Sort and file the Rounds Report, maintaining a well-organized workspace.
  18. Assist in orienting new staff to Unit Secretary-Monitor Tech job functions, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing.
  19. Follow up on physician pages and communicate with paging RN, prioritizing patient care.
  20. Perform other duties consistent with the role, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Successful completion of a basic EKG course or passing 80% or greater on a Basic EKG challenge exam.

Experience:

  • One year experience as a Monitor Technician within the last 2 years.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Effective communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in managing, prioritizing, and completing work assignments efficiently.
  • Proficient in cardiac arrhythmia detection and medical terminology.

License/Certifications:

  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required.

Equipment:
