Job Title: Canvasser

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Canvasser to join our team at the Black Futures Lab (BFL) and Black to the Future Action Fund (B2F). As a Canvasser, you will play a critical role in engaging with Black communities in North Carolina, building relationships, and mobilizing voters to take action.

Job Summary:

The Canvasser will be responsible for conducting door-to-door canvassing, phone, and text banking to inform and mobilize voters. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement strategies to engage Black voters and build independent, progressive, Black political power in cities and states.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct door-to-door canvassing, phone, and text banking to engage with Black voters and build relationships
  • Develop and implement strategies to mobilize voters and build independent, progressive, Black political power
  • Work closely with our team to develop and implement voter engagement plans
  • Enter data collected from potential voters into our database
  • Complete accurate daily reports and provide regular updates to the team
Requirements:
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Black voters from diverse backgrounds
  • Must be able to follow a script and provide accurate information to residents
  • Must be able to meet the required number of contacts (canvassing)
  • Must be able to use a cellphone, web browser, and database to accurately record responses
  • Must be reliable and responsible to fulfill your roles and responsibilities as a canvasser
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working on a campaign or in a community organization
  • Bilingual English-Spanish or Haitian Creole
  • Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation
What We Offer:

We offer a competitive salary range of $20/hour and a temporary, part-time, non-exempt position. This position is estimated to end around November 10, 2024, and is 20 hours per week. We also offer a gas stipend for canvassers with a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
