At Hackensack Meridian Health, we are seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of our healthcare services.
Responsibilities:- Perform a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound, utilizing high frequency sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities.
- Conduct procedures according to departmental format, completing exams in allotted time.
- Perform required daily clerical duties, including the use of ASOBGYN reporting system, Epic patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by Medical Center.
- Perform portable ultrasound exams when necessary.
- Determine, prepare, and set up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and measurements, positioning patients for each anatomical view, and explain procedures.
- Evaluate technical quality of images, obtain representative images of pathogenic conditions, and process in accordance with standard procedures or techniques.
- Maintain records of ultrasound taken, archiving and de-archiving data as required, calculate, compile, and record data from numerical readings on patient's charts and related documents.
- Calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning, clean and sterilize instruments, supplies, and equipment, stock and replenish supplies as required.
- Provide technical assistance and instruction to students, new employees, medical residents, and medical students.
- Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care that is specific to those needs, communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level.
- Perform Anatomy and Physiology exams of fetuses of all gestational ages, including Level II scans, 3D scans, Detailed Fetal Cardiac Anatomy scans, Transvaginal scans, and Doppler BPP, Growth, and Nuchal translucency studies.
- Assist in procedures such as Amniocentesis, Chorionic Villi Sampling, and fetal reductions.
- Perform Gyn U/S exams.
- Graduate of approved Ultrasound School.
- 2 years training in Allied Health/College.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in OB/GYN ultrasound.
- Knowledge of all ultrasound equipment, their function, and operation of each control.
- Understanding of equipment and computer systems, as well as procedures for equipment service.
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
- Knowledge of safety, infection, and disaster policy and procedures, including implementation of patient care in cases of an emergency situation.
- Ability to cover weekends on a rotation basis.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Knowledge to aid in invasive fetal procedures with MFM specialist.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification.
- Nuchal Translucency Certification.
