Powertrain Calibration Engineer

Job Summary:

Cognizant North America is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Powertrain Calibration Engineer to join our team in Dearborn, Michigan. As a key member of our Vehicle Propulsion Systems Engineering Calibration organization, you will be responsible for developing drivability, tailpipe emissions, and OBD attributes across internal combustion and hybrid powertrain programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop powertrain calibrations for internal combustion and hybrid electric powertrains that meet all program requirements, including drivability, performance, emissions, fuel economy, functional safety, and diagnostics.
  • Design and conduct testing to validate powertrain and vehicle attributes.
  • Analyze and present summarized data collected in vehicle to validate and document powertrain calibrations.
  • Conduct in-vehicle/lab/simulation testing and development in SE Michigan.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • 2+ years of experience in Powertrain Calibration delivering drivability, emissions, or OBD.
  • 2+ years of engine/hybrid electric vehicle calibration delivering drivability, tailpipe emissions, or OBD attributes.
  • Powertrain calibration data acquisition and data analysis.
  • 1+ years of experience with one or more of the following software tools: ETAS, ATI, or MATLAB.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Powertrain Calibration delivering drivability, emissions, or OBD attributes.
  • Strong understanding and experience with calibration and data acquisition tools such as ATI Vision, ETAS INCA, or similar.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables concurrently.
  • Data analysis skills are key to this position.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Position is onsite in Dearborn, Michigan.
  • Travel Required as you may also conduct in-vehicle testing and development at various test sites including Arizona, Colorado, and Northern Michigan (8 weeks/year).
