Pharmacist Role at Hennepin County Medical Center

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacist to join our Community CSC Pharmacy team. This position is casual, with no benefits, and involves day/eve shifts and rotating weekends.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Medication Dispensing: Verify, prepare, compound, and accurately dispense medications to patients.
  • Medication Order Interpretation: Interpret physician medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness, and inform them of any errors, omissions, or discrepancies.
  • Patient Medication Profiles: Maintain accurate and proper patient medication profiles, monitoring to ensure the proper choice of drug, dosage form, strength, length of therapy, and interaction potential of the prescribed drug.
  • Drug Therapy Monitoring: Monitor patient reactions to drug therapy and provide real-time interventions with medical staff and nursing staff to facilitate optimal drug therapy.
  • Controlled Substances: Dispense, control, and record keeping of all controlled substances.
  • Information Resource: Serve as an information resource person to medical personnel, providing counseling on patient prescriptions and maintaining a working knowledge of recent developments in the field of pharmacy.
  • Education and Training: Conduct in-service education lectures for medical staff, nurses, pharmacists, students, and other healthcare personnel regarding drugs, procedures, and policies.
  • Supervision and Training: Supervise and train pharmacy technicians, pharmacy interns, and support staff, and assist in precepting Fellows, Residents, or PharmD student rotations.

Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmacy principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
