Melbourne, Florida, United States Schools (Government) Full time

Position Overview

The role of a classroom educator encompasses two distinct salary classifications: Range 1 and Range 2. The primary responsibility of the classroom educator is to design, prepare, and deliver educational programs aimed at achieving specific learning outcomes for students. Engaging in reflective practices and inquiry is essential for enhancing knowledge and skills to effectively connect with students and foster their academic growth.

As educators gain experience, their contributions to the school community extend beyond classroom instruction. All classroom educators may be tasked with additional responsibilities beyond their scheduled teaching duties, provided these responsibilities align with their salary classification, qualifications, training, and experience.

Classroom Educator - Range 2
Range 2 educators play a pivotal role in supporting the school’s mission to enhance student performance and educational outcomes as outlined in the school’s strategic objectives and state-wide priorities. They contribute significantly to the formulation and execution of school policies and initiatives.

A vital aspect of this role involves enhancing the knowledge base of staff regarding student learning and high-quality instructional practices, thereby assisting the school in defining exemplary teaching methodologies.

Expectations for Range 2 educators include:
- Possessing comprehensive content knowledge and pedagogical skills to cater to the diverse needs of all students
- Demonstrating exemplary teaching practices and mentoring fellow educators to engage in reflective practices and enhance their professional capabilities
- Offering expert guidance on content, processes, and strategies that will influence individual and collective professional development
- Supervising and mentoring student teachers
- Assisting colleagues in utilizing student performance data to inform instructional strategies aimed at achieving targeted improvements in student learning outcomes.

Classroom Educator - Range 1
The primary focus for Range 1 educators is to further develop their skills and competencies to become effective classroom practitioners, with structured support and guidance from more experienced educators. They are responsible for the planning, preparation, and delivery of educational programs tailored to meet specific student outcomes. Range 1 educators are accountable for the effective implementation of their programs and may supervise and mentor student teachers.

Range 1 educators actively participate in the development of school policies and programs, assisting in the execution of school priorities. Their focus is on classroom management, subject matter expertise, and instructional practices. New educators entering the profession receive structured support, mentoring, and guidance from experienced colleagues.

Under supervision, new educators will plan and instruct student groups across one or more subjects and are expected to engage in induction programs and other professional development activities designed to integrate curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy throughout the school.

Range 1 educators are responsible for teaching their own classes and may also contribute to policy development, project teams, and the organization of extracurricular activities.
