About the Role:The registered nurse in the ICU will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to monitor and manage patients' clinical conditions. This role involves assessing patients across the lifespan, developing individualized care plans, and ensuring safe medication administration while promoting professional nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Patient Assessment and Care: Performs comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of medical and surgical patients' condition and care needs.
- Medication Administration: Follows the five (5) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations.
- Patient Education: Develops and revises individualized plans of care as indicated by assessment and patient response to treatment.
- Collaboration and Communication: Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team and communicates effectively with patients and families.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current licensure in the State of Connecticut.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support upon hire or receive certification within the new employee introductory orientation period.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
- Ability to interpret data about the patient status in order to identify each patient's age-specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks, and managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
