Job Summary:

As a Signal Helper at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our subway system. This is a progressively responsible position that requires a strong foundation in electrical theory and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic systems on our subway trains and infrastructure.
  • Work under the direction of a Signal Maintainer or Assistant Signal Maintainer to learn the skills and knowledge necessary to progress to the next level.
  • Pass respective examinations related to your craft, including Roadway Workers Protection and Book of Rules.

Requirements:
  • One year of full-time experience as a Helper in the electrical, electronic, or electromechanical trade.
  • A vocational high school diploma or trade school certificate in the electrical or electronic field.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Driver License.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory, including Ohm's Law.

Desired Skills:
  • The ability to read and understand electrical drawings and knowledge of Programmable Logic Computers (PLC).
  • Previous Signal related experience or completion of Classroom Signal Training.
