We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at KA Recruiting Inc. as a Clinical Laboratory Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and reporting various analyses from multiple specimen sources, providing the highest level of patient care, and maximizing patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Productivity and Efficiency: Maintain an expected level of productivity and manage multiple work processes efficiently.
- Task Completion: Complete tasks in a timely manner and handle specimens properly.
- Identification and Suitability: Confirm identification and specimen suitability, and use appropriate accessioning procedures.
- Problem Resolution: Recognize discrepancies on patient orders, resolve and report problems and solutions as appropriate.
- Instrument Maintenance: Perform and record instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control.
- Supply Management: Replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols.
- Reporting and Communication: Follow established reporting procedures, computerized, verbal, and manual as appropriate.
- Computer Navigation: Navigate and access multiple computer applications as needed for job functionality.
- Training and Development: Assist in the training and orientation of new employees, and participate in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field.
- Competency Exams: Successful completion of initial and subsequent competency exams required.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university, with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, and ASCP categorical certification. Alternatively, a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, and at least two years' experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory is also acceptable. Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory information systems is preferred. Registry-eligible technologists are encouraged to apply.
Medical Lab Technician candidates should possess an Associate degree in a laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited institution as either a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT). Minimum 1 year of experience in a hospital laboratory is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory information systems is also preferred. Military experience will be considered, including US Army 68K Medical Laboratory Specialist, US Navy Medical Laboratory Technician, and US Air Force Medical Laboratory Apprentice.
