Position Overview:

The Resource Special Education Instructor, under the guidance of the Special Education Program Administrator, is dedicated to delivering exceptional educational services to students with special needs from kindergarten through grade 12. This role emphasizes collaboration in the development and execution of individualized student programs, including specialized instruction and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops tailored educational plans in partnership with parents and team members.
  • Facilitates learning for students with diverse learning, emotional, and physical challenges.
  • Creates instructional materials that align with the general education curriculum for both individual and small group settings.
  • Collaborates with parents, administrators, and specialists to formulate educational strategies that enhance students' academic, physical, and social growth.
  • Prepares classroom environments and materials for effective learning experiences.
  • Acts as the lead coordinator for the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with general education staff.
  • Monitors and assesses student progress, participating in the review and adjustment of IEPs as necessary.
  • Keeps precise records of student performance and progress.
  • Mentors and supports teaching assistants who work with students with disabilities.
  • Guides students in transitioning between grades and developing essential life skills.
  • Evaluates students' skills and educational requirements, tracking their performance over time.
  • Maintains open communication with students and their families to foster positive relationships.
  • Adheres to district policies and educational standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid state teaching certificate as mandated by state regulations.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Various state teacher certifications are preferred, including Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education.
  • Endorsement as a Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) is preferred.
  • Compliance with all relevant professional standards and practices.
  • Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • Completion of health requirements as per state regulations.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language are required.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is necessary.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
