Chemical Analyst

Chesterfield County Human Resource Management is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our wastewater laboratory, you will be responsible for performing complex chemical analyses to meet operational needs and regulatory requirements.

• Conduct laboratory analyses, including pH, E. coli, and biochemical oxygen demand, to ensure compliance with Federal and State Regulations.
• Operate a variety of laboratory instruments, such as spectrophotometers and analytical balances, to collect and analyze data.
• Prepare reagents and standard solutions, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and quality of results.
• Record laboratory data and report analytical results in a database, maintaining responsibility for the quality and accuracy of all work.
• Perform other work as required, including occasional work during inclement weather or holidays.

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or related field required.
• At least three years of experience performing laboratory analysis, preferably in a wastewater laboratory.
• Minimum of one year experience in a VELAP or TNI certified/accredited laboratory preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of chemistry and microbiology principles applicable to wastewater laboratory duties.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word preferred.
