Position Overview: Under the supervision of the department manager or supervisor, the Radiologic Technologist performs essential interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to ensure accurate radiologic diagnoses for patients.

Qualifications:

Education: Completion of an accredited two-year program in radiologic technology is required.

Licenses/Certifications: Current BLS certification, CMRT certification from the Texas Medical Board, and ARRT registration in Radiology and CT are mandatory.

Experience: A minimum of one year of experience as a radiologic technologist and at least six months of experience in CT is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates proficiency in specific competencies as outlined in the Competency Validation Checklist.
  • Engages in technical tasks directly associated with the CT scanner, including the development, initiation, and monitoring of procedures for optimal use of the equipment.
  • Administers CT contrast in accordance with hospital protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the radiologist to review patient orders, ensuring accurate examinations and diagnostic outcomes.
  • Welcomes patients and evaluates their conditions to determine appropriate handling and special needs.
  • Selects the correct protocol for patient examinations.
  • Identifies patient service needs by establishing a personal rapport with patients.
  • Maintains radiographic equipment and examination rooms in optimal working condition, reporting any malfunctions or required repairs to supervisory staff.
  • Manages radiology supply inventory by monitoring stock levels, anticipating supply needs, placing orders, and confirming receipt of supplies.
  • Conducts quality control procedures for CT scans in line with hospital policies and state regulations.
  • Participates in all mandatory educational programs and understands responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Engages in department-specific training and can articulate responsibilities related to safety and job-related hazards.
  • Exhibits proper body mechanics in all tasks.
  • Displays appropriate identification while on duty.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
