Healthcare Safety Coordinator

At the Department of Veterans Affairs, we prioritize patient safety and quality care. As a Patient Safety Coordinator, you will play a vital role in promoting a culture of safety within our facilities.
About the JobThis position is located at the University Drive Campus under the supervision of the Quality Management Director. The Patient Safety Coordinator supports the Patient Safety Manager (PSM) by creating and sharing patient safety policies and activities developed by the National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS). You will work closely with the PSM to help build and implement patient safety systems and promote a culture of safety within VA facilities and for VA patients in all healthcare settings.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as experience working in a healthcare setting. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field is preferred, but not required. The salary for this position ranges from $69,899 to $143,953 per year, depending on your qualifications and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide support to the Patient Safety Program by creating and sharing patient safety policies and activities developed by the NCPS.
- Work with the PSM to help build and implement patient safety systems and promote a culture of safety within VA facilities and for VA patients in all healthcare settings.
- Review and process incident reports timely and provide guidance to RCA teams to ensure timely completion of RCA within 45 days timeframe.
- Recommend system and process improvements to improve patient safety.
- Conduct inspections and EOC rounds in all facilities and CBOCs to ensure compliance with patient safety regulations.
To be eligible for this position, you must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. A Master's degree in nursing or a related field is also preferred.
