Senior Community Workforce Development Director Opportunity

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is the nation's oldest program helping low-income, unemployed individuals 55+ gain job training on a path to employment. We operate SCSEP in 38 counties across Ohio and Indiana.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves balancing community engagement and connection-building with strategic administrative program support. As a Workforce Development Director for our Portsmouth area, you will:

  • Oversee the Portsmouth office, distributing administrative responsibilities to staff participants while ensuring compliance with the SCSEP Administrative Procedures Manual.
  • Learn and master computer applications, including CRM, Paycor, and Office 365, to train staff participants in all aspects of office management.
  • Identify and resolve non-standard situations, document work activities, prepare accurate reports, and take independent action in solving problems.
Program Recruiting Tasks

You will:

  • Identify sources to recruit participants for the program.
  • Recruit, evaluate, and enroll participants as needed to meet goals.
  • Recruit non-profit host agencies for participant placement, ensuring orientation and safety reviews.
  • Promote and market different aspects of the SCSEP in the local community through presentations, written materials, and media coverage.
Strategic Program Management

You will collaborate with other Workforce Development Directors and the SCSEP Director of Regional Operations to ensure best practices and efficient processes.

This role requires regular travel within the Portsmouth Region in eight counties: Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Pike, Ross, Scioto, and Vinton.

Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in business, education, social sciences, or a related field; equivalent work experience will be considered.
Skills and Abilities

You should possess:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when necessary.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Compensation and Benefits

This position offers:
