Cash Waggner & Associates is seeking a dedicated Hydraulic Engineering Specialist to contribute significantly to our engineering initiatives. This role is pivotal in establishing our Indianapolis office and offers a unique opportunity to shape the development of our newest location.

The selected candidate will engage in both structural and non-structural engineering tasks, including data gathering, analysis, flood modeling, and cost-benefit evaluations for various water-related infrastructures such as waterways, pipelines, dams, dikes, culverts, and canals.


Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate field crew operations.

Provide expert consultation and guidance to project stakeholders and management regarding engineering specifications for construction, modifications, and structural repairs.

Utilize design software and drafting tools to effectively communicate and render engineering designs; plan and design interconnected systems and structures such as transportation or hydraulic systems.

Evaluate the integrity of construction materials through testing and analysis.
Establish design criteria by calculating load and grade requirements, material stress factors, and water flow rates.

Plan projects based on thorough analysis of relevant documentation including drawings, blueprints, aerial imagery, survey reports, and geological data.

Prepare and present comprehensive reports on project-related topics, including environmental impact assessments and right-of-way evaluations.
Estimate necessary materials, equipment, and labor to assess project costs.
Collaborate with engineers and contractors to ensure project milestones are achieved effectively.

Work alongside surveyors to establish installation points, grades, elevations, and other critical factors influencing construction.

Monitor project advancement to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety protocols, and sanitation standards.
Upon project completion, conduct inspections, repairs, and maintenance of structures as required.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) and other relevant design and analysis software.
Experience with HEC-RAS or similar simulation software for computational fluid dynamics.

Strong understanding of materials, methods, and tools utilized in the construction, repair, or restoration of water-related infrastructures.

Familiarity with safety regulations pertinent to assigned projects.
Ability to identify and resolve complex engineering challenges.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Capacity to be both innovative and analytical.
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a focus on Civil Engineering.
Licensure or the ability to obtain licensure within one year of employment is required.

Physical Demands:
Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
Willingness to travel to various project sites.
Capability to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
