Magnet Medical is a renowned healthcare provider seeking a skilled Radiation Safety Specialist to join their team as a CT Technologist. This travel position will be based in Rochester, New York.

Job Overview

The ideal candidate will have experience operating computed tomography (CT) scanners and ensuring patient safety during imaging procedures. As a Radiation Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, minimizing radiation exposure to patients, and collaborating with the healthcare team to obtain high-quality images.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Preparation and Imaging: Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining the procedure, verifying medical history, and positioning them properly on the CT table. Instruct patients on how to hold their breath or remain still during scans.
  • Operation of CT Equipment: Operate and calibrate the CT scanner, ensuring proper settings for each scan. Administer contrast agents or dye injections under physician guidance. Monitor equipment during imaging to ensure high-quality images are captured.
  • Image Quality and Review: Review CT images for quality, working closely with radiologists to ensure diagnostic standards are met. Repeat or adjust scans as necessary to improve image quality or ensure comprehensive imaging coverage.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort: Follow safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients. Maintain a clean and safe environment in the CT room. Ensure proper patient positioning to prevent injury or discomfort.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to determine appropriate imaging procedures. Document patient information, scan parameters, and any complications in the electronic health record (EHR).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Sciences or related field
  • AAS in Radiography or equivalent experience
  • ARRT Certification in Computed Tomography
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
