Unit Information:
Department: MedSurg | RN
- Unit: MedSurg - 6th Floor
- Total Beds: 42
- Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:5, with occasional 1:6
- Required Certifications: BLS
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Primarily medical cases with some surgical overflow, including respiratory and gastrointestinal issues, as well as behavioral health cases.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of MedSurg experience required.
- Proficiency in EPIC system is necessary.
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips is essential.
- Willingness to mentor new travelers and students is preferred.
Additional Unit Details:
- Charge Nurse available on each shift, rarely taking patients unless necessary.
- Patient Care Technicians available at a ratio of 1:8.
- Telemetry monitoring managed by virtual techs; RNs must interpret their own telemetry strips.
Scheduling Information:
- 12-hour shifts with no block scheduling.
- Weekend shifts: 5 weekends within a 6-week period.
- Holiday shifts may be required based on need.
Orientation and Training:
- 3 days of general orientation, including EPIC training and meeting with an educator.
- 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor.
Note: Candidates must provide their permanent address to confirm eligibility based on the facility's radius rule.
