As a Registered Nurse specializing in Obstetrics, you will play a crucial role in providing care to mothers and newborns in a critical access hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage general nursing duties in Labor & Delivery, postpartum, nursery, and Med-Surg units.
- Utilize advanced medical equipment including EPIC charting systems, Omnicell, Philips monitors, fetal monitors, and more.
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery, couplet care, antepartum, and postpartum care is essential.
Licensure and Certifications:
- Required certifications include fetal monitoring, ACLS, NRP, and BLS. A valid RN license in the state of Minnesota is mandatory.
Work Schedule:
- Shifts typically consist of 12-hour day or night rotations, with occasional 8-hour shifts. Weekend commitments are expected for 2 weekends within a 6-week schedule. Flexibility for additional weekend shifts is appreciated. Note that OB nurses will not work independently.
Unit Flexibility:
- Nurses may float to other departments, including Med-Surg. Skills in ICU or Emergency Department will be utilized if applicable.
Facility Overview:
- Our facility is a 25-bed critical access hospital that provides comprehensive care for ICU, OB, and Med-Surg patients, delivering approximately 300 babies annually.
Nurse-Patient Ratio:
- In Labor & Delivery, staffing follows AWHONN guidelines, while Med-Surg assignments typically have a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-5.
Dress Code:
- Navy blue scrubs with a light palette for undergarments.
Training and Orientation:
- New staff will undergo a 1-day orientation in OB and a 1-day session in Med-Surg.
