Position Overview
As a key member of the Engineering team at Kanthal AB, the Product Development Engineer will play a crucial role in the creation and testing of innovative processes necessary for launching new products. This position requires a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to act as a subject matter expert across various operations within the factory.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Product and Process Innovation: Identify, develop, and evaluate effective materials and processes that align with business objectives, leveraging cutting-edge technology and capabilities. Act as the primary expert for all factory processes and products.
  • Commercialization of Processes: Facilitate the transition of new technologies from laboratory settings to full-scale production. Collaborate with production engineers and operators to grasp process intricacies and formulate standard operating procedures. Provide detailed product specifications and procedures to the manufacturing team for seamless production integration.
  • Process Evaluation: Collect and analyze data to assess current approved lab-scale processes and identify potential improvements. Document findings and prepare comprehensive reports for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Testing and Problem Resolution: Evaluate materials, manufacturing methods, and design tolerances to determine optimal product solutions. Conduct tests and refine products throughout the development cycle to address any emerging issues.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish quality control standards and safety protocols for developed products, with a solid understanding of medical device manufacturing regulations and quality criteria.
Candidate Profile:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, ideally in Materials Science or Materials Engineering, along with 5 years of experience in manufacturing; or 10 years of experience in the manufacturing sector. Advanced degrees or experience in fine wire, coiling, or coating industries may substitute for some experience or educational requirements.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proficient in managing multiple complex projects and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
  • Adaptable and flexible in approach.
  • Strong analytical, creative thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Determined and resourceful in finding solutions.
