Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Physician to join our team at Texas Woman's University. As a Staff Physician, you will be responsible for providing primary healthcare services to university students and guests. Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluating patients for medical and mental health issues, including obtaining medical history, performing physical examinations, and formulating diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Providing counseling, anticipatory guidance, and preventive education to meet the needs of patients.
  • Prescribing medications for the treatment of patients and adhering to safe monitoring practices in accordance with Texas statutes and professional practice guidelines.
  • Determining the need for and ordering laboratory, medical imaging, and other studies as needed to establish or support diagnosis and treatment.
  • Performing reviews of laboratory results, medical imaging, and medical studies in a timely fashion, conducting clinical assessments of abnormal results, and following up with patients as appropriate.
  • Monitoring ongoing medical treatment.
  • Referring patients as needed for appropriate specialty care services.
  • Writing medical notes and maintaining accurate medical records, ensuring complete documentation of existing medical conditions and treatments prescribed.
  • Preparing medical correspondence and reports as needed.
  • Performing minor surgical procedures.
  • Consulting on patient care at the request of other medical staff.
  • Participating in Quality Assurance and infection control procedures.
  • Assisting in the development of clinic protocols.
  • Staying abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in patient medical and mental health treatment, diagnosis, and education.
  • Providing direct supervision and training to the nursing staff.
  • Functions as a health team leader in emergency situations.
  • Participating in providing educational programming for the university student on health issues.
  • Establishing and maintaining a safe environment for employees under charge.
  • Responsible for establishing job standards for subordinate staff and effectively evaluating staff under charge.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school.
  • Licensure in the state of Texas.
  • Prefer board certification/board eligible in Family Practice, OB/GYN, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics.
  • Current prescriptive licenses.
  • Progressive healthcare experience required to adequately provide the knowledge and skills necessary in the operation of a primary healthcare clinic.
  • Experience must include outpatient experience in both mental health and women's healthcare.
