Role Overview:

This position is integral to supporting Electronic Warfare initiatives at NSWC Dahlgren. The successful candidate will employ software engineering standards to deliver modeling and simulation solutions, system architectures, interface coding, and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V).

This is a senior-level role that demands significant expertise and recognition in software engineering and electronic warfare systems.

Initially, the role will require a strong onsite presence to facilitate collaboration with the team, gain a comprehensive understanding of the system, and transition into a senior capacity.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in software design, development, and engineering, particularly in program and system-level development.
  • At least five (5) years of proven experience in creating real-time system and subsystem software products, as well as managing databases (e.g., Oracle, MS Access) and familiarity with operating systems (LINUX and MS Windows) and interfaces.
  • Five (5) years of experience or equivalent involvement with Navy or other Armed Services programs and/or systems.

Demonstrated Expertise in the Following Areas:

  • Modeling and simulations, real-time system control architectures, interface coding, and Information Assurance/Cyber Security requirements.
  • Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) experience, with proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, JAVA, Simu-Link, Python, RTI-DDS, and PLA.
  • Development of software for communication with hardware using TCP/IP, UDP, and serial communications.
  • Combat system integration and system architecture.
  • Object-Oriented software design principles.
  • Experience with GNAT Ada compiler, VxWorks, and Tornado.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Warfare Systems and other shipboard systems.
  • Familiarity with Navy Software Safety and industry-standard programming practices.
  • Agile methodology.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor of Science or higher degree from an accredited institution in engineering, computer/software engineering, or computer science is required.
