Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead a design team in all aspects of project management, including pursuing new project opportunities, proposal preparation, identifying project staffing needs, developing and maintaining project production workload projections, overseeing the financial performance of the project, and recommending and reviewing project budget.
  • Client Management: Develop and maintain good, continuous, positive, and helpful contact with existing clients, and identify new markets and new clients to bring in new projects.
  • Proposal Preparation: Prepare proposals and/or qualification statements to include pre-implementation estimates and prepare and present winning presentations.
  • Project Execution: Responsible for execution of project schedules, scope, and budgets, and develop and maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Team Management: Determine project team makeup and assign internal and external workloads, conduct project kick-off meetings to communicate and obtain agreement on the project schedule, and monitor and follow up on invoicing and payments.
  • Design Phase: Accountable for the overall design phase, including conducting design review meetings, ensuring progress drawings are met, providing progress reports to Principal-in-Charge, and involving the client in design development.
  • Bidding Phase: Manage our participation in the bidding phase according to individual project requirements, coordinate Requests for Information and contractor questions.
  • Construction Phase: Manage the construction phase according to contract requirements.
  • Communication: Respond promptly to requests for information or problems and maintain good communication, and assure that project correspondence and design documentation is kept orderly and complete at all times.
  • Quality Control: Assure quality control procedures are implemented and maintained for each of the technical areas required to complete the job.
  • Training and Development: Provide guidance and training of technical support personnel, and make recommendations to senior management on personnel needs, advertisement, and hiring of staff as required.
  • Employee Evaluation: Provide input to the appropriate supervisor for employee evaluations, and ensure that personnel under his/her direction observe and comply with personnel policies and procedures.
  • Professional Development: Routinely communicate with Principals, Engineers, Survey managers, CADD operators, Secretaries, Field inspectors, Clients, Government Agencies, Sub-Contract Firms, and Contractors, and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
Requirements
  • Education: BS in Civil Engineering or technical equivalent.
  • Experience: 6+ years of engineering design consulting experience.
  • Skills: Good supervisory skills; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; and excellent project management knowledge and/or experience.
  • Software: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and technical software.
  • License: Valid Driver's License.
