Job Opportunity

Volt is seeking a skilled Core Component Stress Analysis Engineer to join our team in a remote opportunity with a client located in Bellevue, WA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform stress analysis for Core Assemblies using FEA and hand calculations to ensure the highest quality of engineering design.
  • Present analysis results to internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating complex technical information.
  • Collaborate with the Core Component Design team to interface with engineering design activities and ensure seamless integration.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary Engineering and Project Teams to provide requirements and inputs, driving project success.
  • Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest standards of engineering design and identify process improvement opportunities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of structural analysis experience; relevant Master's and Doctorate degrees may be credited for up to two and four years of experience, respectively.
  • Experience in using FEA to perform nonlinear analyses with emphasis on ANSYS or ABAQUS.
  • Proficiency in hand calculations and first-principles calculations, with knowledge of references such as Shigley's and Roark's.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as APDL or Python.
  • Familiarity with standalone CAD packages, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Working experience with design codes such as the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section III, Division I, Section III, Division V, Section VIII, Division II, and API 579-1/ASME FFS-1.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with minimal direction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to complex challenges.
