Livestock Handler Trainee/Farm Laborer

Hourly Rate: $16.00

Smithfield Foods is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Herdsperson Trainee/Laborer Farm. As a key member of our farm team, you will assist in routine animal care and general farm tasks to ensure the welfare and well-being of our animals.

• Feed, water, and care for animals, including basic veterinary procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to our strict biosecurity protocols.
• Assist in moving animals and maintaining efficient animal flows.
• Process piglets, including vaccinations, castrations, and ear notching.
• Monitor animal health and administer medications as needed.
• Collaborate with farm leadership to ensure seamless operations and high-quality animal care.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous livestock handling experience a plus.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong commitment to teamwork and excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to work a variable schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Our farm environment can be physically demanding, with frequent exposure to dust, odors, and loud noises. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a variety of weather conditions.
