Key Responsibilities of a Construction Cost Analyst
The Construction Cost Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and competitive project estimates. Daily tasks include conducting quantity takeoffs and estimating civil/site work, which involves detailed assessments of materials and labor trades. Close collaboration with the Chief Estimator and VP of Preconstruction is essential for effective communication regarding task statuses and outcomes.
Key responsibilities encompass:
- Preparing and supporting pricing and bidding for construction projects.
- Engaging with Trade Partners and vendors to solicit bids.
- Maintaining communication with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and clients.
- Coordinating the distribution of essential information and documents to subcontractors.
- Preparing comprehensive bid reviews and analyses.
- Developing subcontractor scopes as needed.
Attending pre-bid and project walk-through meetings is integral to the role. The analyst also contributes to developing client scopes of work and project schedules, assembling presentation documents, and assisting in the final compilation of bid proposals. After the bidding process, meticulous organization of all bid-related information is crucial for future reference, ensuring all documentation meets professional standards.
Another vital aspect of this role is to strengthen and expand Fiorilli Construction's network of Trade Partners. The analyst enhances relationships with subcontractors by actively participating in strategic presentations to secure new opportunities and diligently following up on all proposals and bids. This proactive approach is essential for fostering long-term partnerships that are critical to project success.
Qualifications for a Construction Cost Analyst
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a large-scale professional commercial construction environment is preferred.
- Experience with EOS Worldwide is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to negotiate and build relationships with vendors.
- Experience in data entry, database management, and compliance reporting.
- Professional customer service skills are essential.
- Proficiency in technical tools and software is preferred.
