The Telemundo 44 news internship program offers a comprehensive introduction to the various facets of our news operations, all within a structured and supervised setting. Interns will engage with multiple units, gaining valuable insights and hands-on experience.
Intern Responsibilities:
Interns will:
- Engage in the daily editorial workflow, including planning, researching, newsgathering, logging, writing, and editing.
- Accompany reporters and production teams on assignments to understand both editorial and technical components of news gathering.
- Observe and learn from producers and assignment editors.
- Create individual news segments for personal demo reels and online platforms.
- Participate in studio anchor sessions.
- Attend brown bag lunches and informational meetings with NBCUniversal staff.
- Assist with daily administrative tasks and support the assignment desk.
- Develop unique special project opportunities.
Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
- Currently pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree at an accredited institution, with documentation to verify academic progress.
- Must be a sophomore or higher (30 credits completed).
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
- Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- Willingness to work on-site.
Preferred Attributes:
- Prior internship experience or involvement in campus activities.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, often under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated interest in current events and affairs.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in research.
- Some background in journalism, ideally within a television newsroom context.
The hourly compensation for student interns is $17.50.
